Hey all,

I'm normally Mr. Positive and Sunshine, but today I wasn't my usual self.  Think a darker Buck from an alternate universe.  Drop by and see if this is a welcomed change or should I drop this faster than a bad spending habit?

Yep, kind of a downer. I always believe that no matter what the circumstance, if you're passionate about something, you should go for it, even if you are 5' tall and trying to get an NBA deal.

I like this article though because it could possibly start a debate. Interaction between readers and the host is a wonderful thing. Sometimes you have to go to the "dark side" in order to get people thinking.

Thanks Robert and Forest!  Cool

Hey Derek,

Sorry for the downer.  Just experimenting with different angles and styles.  Thanks for understanding!  Smile

I don't think it was all that dark. As you say, it's important to have a plan B, and take calculated risks. The all or nothing approach is, well, risky. I'm sure the Col. Sanders story has become embellished over the years anyway.

Thanks Hunter!  I guess it felt darker when compared to my usual peppy posts.  Mixing things up a bit. Smile

Nothing evil about that post. People need to be shocked back into reality every now and then!

Thanks Khaleef!  Felt out of character as I am usually Mr. Cheerful.  Kind of fun to break type sometimes.  Gives you a different POV to write from.

Interesting. I never knew that about Colonel Sanders. He was 65 before his idea launched. That was a good point about being a superstar. Sometimes you have to know when to pack it in and call it quits.

Thanks Mark.  You saw my main point.  I know we should all be encouraging to friends and loved ones, but if we can't be totally honest, do we really care?  For the Colonel Sanders example, perhaps I'm being a little selfish, it hurts to see my Grandpa Sanders get rejected 1000 times.  Perhaps Grandpa is more suited for something else?  Is it wrong to say I want Grandpa to succeed at something so we can all celebrate his success with him?

I don't find anything wrong with that! If we are able to provide a stable home for our families, while chasing our dreams, then I think it's ok. It's just when we neglect our primary responsibilities, that I have a problem!
